Over 50 years ago, people just like you were looking for a community pool in the Merchantville, Pennsauken and Cherry Hill area. When the municipalities were unable to provide such a pool, a group of three hundred families got together and established Woodbine Swim Club, a private, non-profit swim club, owned and operated by its membership. In the summer of 1958, the club officially opened its doors and in the 50 years that followed, hundreds of families, just like yours, have found not just a pool to play in, but a home away from home for the summer where they have built friendships and memories that have lasted a lifetime.

Now it’s your turn to share in the community and family spirit that has kept Woodbine running for 50 years.  Where day camps, amusement parks, recreation programs and other summer activities only provide fun for some of the family, some of the time, Woodbine provides a summer recreation solution for your entire family, everyday of the season. Your family can enjoy swimming, basketball, shuffleboard, sand castles, picnics, parties, friendships and hometown warmth you just can’t get on vacation.  For less than the cost of a week at the shore, you will have a private summer getaway, right next door, for the whole summer!

Becoming a member is easy! Follow the instructions on the attached application and you will finally have a lasting answer to the dreaded question, “What should we do this summer?”  Thank you for your interest in Woodbine and we look forward to making you a part of our family tradition.

How do I become a member?

  1. Fill out the Membership Application.  Please note that although it is preferred that you provide the names of two current bondholders willing to sponsor your membership, you may request a board-sponsored application which does not list any sponsors.
  2. Include with your application a $100 deposit which will be applied toward the purchase of your bond certificate once your membership is approved. Mail your application and payment to:  Woodbine Swim Club,  Membership Committee, PO Box 1054, Merchantville, NJ 08109.
  3. Once your application is received it will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval.
  4. If your membership is approved, you will receive a bill for the seasonal dues.  Once these dues have been paid, you can begin to enjoy the benefits of being a member of Woodbine Swim Club!

What is a bond certificate?

Woodbine is a private club, owned and operated by its membership, so membership requires the purchase of a bond certificate which gives you part ownership in the club.  A bond certificate costs $500.  The first $100 is paid and sent in with your application, as described below.  The bond payment may be paid in full right away or you can choose to pay for it over a two year period, with two equal payments of $250.  Once your bond certificate is paid in full, you will be assigned a bond certificate number (and only when your bond has been paid in full).  Upon submitting your application, include a one time fee of $100 which is non refundable.  Later, your bond certificate can be made available for purchase by a new member upon your resignation from the club.  When your bond is sold to a new member, you will receive a refund of your bond payment.
